John later developed a new story Mathikettan Solai (which would be renamed Gunaa), inspired partly by a mentally-ill person he knew. ![]() Haasan and John initially planned to make a film set in Sri Lanka during a time of insurgency, but the project was dropped over story concerns. He believes she is an avatar of goddess Abhirami and it is his destiny to marry her. The film revolves around a newly released psychiatric patient (Haasan) who kidnaps an heiress (Roshini) to make her fall in love with him. ![]() The film stars Kamal Haasan, Rekha and newcomer Roshini.
